Find out what your room is doing to your speakers.
Reflect measures what actually reaches your chair, shows you which bass notes the room exaggerates, and corrects them for everything your Mac plays.
Some bass notes boom. Others disappear.
Sound bounces off your desk, walls and corners. At your chair those reflections pile up on some frequencies and cancel others. Your speakers are fine; the room is doing it.
You can hear it as one bass note that is always too loud, or a bassline that seems to skip notes. Moving the speakers helps a little. Measuring tells you where the problem is.
what reflect does
- Cuts bass peaks between 20 and 200 Hz
- Applies to every app: Spotify, browsers, games
- Runs locally, audio never leaves your Mac
- Doesn't boost deep nulls (more power cannot fill a cancellation)
- Doesn't replace speaker placement or acoustic panels
- Doesn't do full-range or phase correction
Deliberately narrow: fewer knobs means fewer ways to make it sound worse. Need general-purpose EQ instead? See system-wide EQ on Mac.
Measure, look, listen.
You see the measurement before anything touches your audio.

Measure at your chair
Put the mic where your head goes and run the sweep. Your Mac mic is enough for a first look; a UMIK-1 gets you closer.

See what the room adds
The graph appears right after the sweep: measured response, the proposed cuts, and the predicted result.

Listen and compare
Correction runs on everything your Mac plays. Press Hold to A/B while a song plays to hear your room without it, and judge by ear.

What real rooms do to bass.
Patterns from measurements people shared through 100 Rooms.
- +15 dBor more
- The loudest bass peak in most rooms measured with Reflect. That one note plays close to three times as loud as the notes around it.
- 70 to 130 Hzusually
- Where that peak lands: kick drums, bass lines and the body of a male voice. Exactly the part of music you notice.
- 1 to 5 cutstypically
- All Reflect needs to tame it. Only the peaks are touched; the rest of your sound stays as it was.

Not every room is dramatic.
This living room peaked at about +6 dB, so Reflect made four small cuts of 1 to 6 dB and stopped there. It corrects what the measurement shows, not a fixed preset.
- Checked against REW
- The Auto-EQ is benchmarked against REW on the same measurements, filter by filter.
- Exports you can verify
- Filters export in REW format, so you can load them anywhere and check the work.

- An opt-in project that tests correction in real rooms, not just on our own desks.
why this exists
My studio is a small bedroom with the desk pushed into a corner. That corner gave me one bass note I could not get rid of. It hung under every mix and every song, and you could hear it in the room itself: clap your hands and the room rings back at you.
I looked for a simple way to fix it on my Mac and could not find one that I actually wanted to use. So I started building Reflect. The graph at the top of this page is that room.
how it compares

Questions
Every room changes how speakers sound. Walls, corners, and desks can make some bass notes louder and cancel others. Room correction measures those changes and reduces the biggest peaks so the bass sounds more even.
Reflect is free during beta, and beta builds keep working until the announced beta end date. After launch, measurement stays free: measure your room, view your response, export it, and preview correction without paying. Applying correction system-wide, including imported REW filters, will require a one-time licence. Confirmed beta-list subscribers receive the private €9.99 beta-tester price.
No. You can start with your Mac mic for a first look at your room. For more accurate correction, use a calibrated USB measurement mic such as a UMIK-1.
Reflect reduces bass peaks between 20 and 200 Hz. It does not boost deep dips, because a deep acoustic cancellation cannot be fixed by asking the speakers to play louder.
Reflect is not a replacement for speaker placement, acoustic treatment, or a full professional calibration system. It is a simpler Mac app for measuring the room and applying careful bass correction to everyday listening.
Yes. Reflect applies correction system-wide to audio on your Mac, including Spotify, YouTube, browsers, games, and most apps.
Reflect is designed for listening correction and reference playback, not live input monitoring. Its processing path is built to add very little latency on top of your normal playback chain. Actual end-to-end latency depends on your audio device and buffer settings. For live recording or playing software instruments, bypass Reflect while tracking.
Reflect remembers which output your filters were made for. When you switch to another output, correction stops so one room's filters are not applied to different speakers. When the original output comes back, for example when you turn your DAC on again, correction resumes on its own. To use the filters on another output anyway, press Start and choose Only now or Move to this output.
No. Measurement and correction happen locally on your Mac. If you choose to join the 100 Rooms project, Reflect shares the derived measurement and filters, never audio or microphone recordings.
